A cheaper price on the mainland is not always a cheaper purchase
If you have lived here a while you already know this. If you have just arrived, it is worth reading before you order a heat pump from a website in Madrid.
Anything from the mainland goes through customs
The Canary Islands are outside the EU VAT area, so a parcel from the peninsula has to be cleared on arrival. You pay IGIC on it, the courier charges you a handling fee on top, and the delivery waits until that is done. Buying here, none of that happens: the price on the label is what you pay.
The warranty is on the island
We are the official Poolex distributor for the Canary Islands, and we have our own technician here. If a heat pump gives trouble in year two, we come out to it. A mainland seller will ask you to ship a 90 kg unit back across the Atlantic.

Everything a pool in Tenerife actually needs
- Heat pumps. Official Poolex distributor — Nano Fi, Silverline Fi, Jet Pro, Vertigo Fi. An unheated pool here sits at roughly 18–21 °C from December to March — technically swimmable, in practice nobody swims. A correctly sized heat pump adds about five months of use to a private pool, and pays for itself fastest in the north of the island.
- Pool covers. Ibercoverpool, made to measure after an on-site survey. In the south they cut evaporation and UV damage to your chemistry; in the north they hold the heat you paid for overnight. Bar covers, thermal blankets, safety covers and slatted automatic covers.
- Water treatment. Chlorine, bromine, pH, alkalinity, flocculant, anti-algae and salt chlorinators. Tell us what your water is doing — cloudy, green, itchy, whatever it is — and we will tell you what to add, including when the answer is "nothing".
- Filtration. Sand and cartridge filters, pumps, variable speed units, multiport valves, skimmers and hydraulics.
- Robots and cleaning. Automatic pool cleaners, telescopic poles, brushes, nets and hoses. Calima season is hard on filters here — we will tell you which robot survives fine Saharan dust and which one clogs.
- Wellness. Outdoor and indoor saunas, infrared cabins, hot tubs and ice baths. Around twenty sauna models in the catalogue, from compact two-seaters to six-seat garden cabins.

Above-ground pool
Steel or composite, from a few hundred euros to a few thousand. No building licence in most cases, installed in a day or two on a level base. The sensible choice for a rental property, a terrace, or if you want to find out whether you will actually use a pool before committing to one.
Liner or reinforced membrane pool
The standard build on the island. Faster and cleaner than tiling, and the finish can be replaced in a week fifteen years later instead of being chipped out. We do full refurbishments of tired 1990s pools this way, including the hydraulics.
Before you call anyone
Check your plan general setback rules with your ayuntamiento, and check whether your plot is urban or rustic — it changes the licence entirely. Adeje, Arona, Santiago del Teide and the northern municipalities all apply this differently. We can point you at the right department; we cannot get the licence for you.
What we will not do
We will not quote a pool build over the phone from a photograph. Ground conditions, access for machinery and the distance to your technical room decide most of the price, and none of them are visible in a picture. The site visit is free.
Ordering in English
- We are a small family business, and our English is basic. Enough to understand what you need and sort it out — not enough to write you an elegant email. If something we say comes out clumsy, it is the language, not indifference. Send a photo, point at the thing, ask twice. We would much rather you did that than go somewhere else because you were not sure we had understood.
- The online shop is in Spanish. We would rather tell you that up front than have you fight a half-translated checkout. Product names are mostly international (Poolex, AstralPool, Bayrol, Holl's), and prices are prices — but if anything is unclear, send us the link on WhatsApp and we will confirm it, take the order and invoice you directly.
- Payment. Card, bank transfer or in person at the shop. Business customers can be invoiced with a CIF for their accountant.
- Delivery. 24–72 hours anywhere on Tenerife, free over €200. Other islands quoted per shipment.
- Installation and service. Our own technician, not subcontractors. Heat pump installation, electrical connection, commissioning and annual servicing. We currently have more demand than technician hours, so book installation work ahead rather than on the day.
- Holiday lets and property managers. If you manage villas for non-resident owners, we run scheduled maintenance with photo reports. Several agencies on the island already work this way with us — ask for the B2B rates.
